This mini USB to RS485 Converter is an entry-grade communication interface designed to connect USB hosts to RS485 serial networks reliably and safely. It converts USB signals to RS485, offering robust electrical protection and broad compatibility without the need for external power supplies.
After installing the drivers this converter supports plug-and-play operation, automatic transmit/receive control, and multi-node communication, making it ideal for general use and industrial automation, data acquisition, and network expansion projects.
This converter has an AUX terminal (VCC and GND) which can be used for powering a low-voltage (5V) device. The amperage depends which type of USB the converter is connected to (USB 2.0 or 3.0).

Key Features
Industrial Protection & Reliability

  • 6 kV three-level lightning protection on the RS485 interface, meeting GB/T17626.5 (IEC61000-4-5) standards.
  • Gold-plated USB connector with built-in TVS protection (±15 kV air discharge / ±8 kV contact discharge).
  • Operates across a wide industrial temperature range: -40 °C to +85 °C.
  • Three LED indicators (Power, Receive, Transmit) for easy status monitoring.

Connectivity & Compatibility

  • USB 2.0 Full-Speed interface with plug-and-play simplicity — no external power needed.
  • Emulates a standard serial port, compatible with most serial applications.
  • 5VDC AUX power which can be used for powering a low power/amp device.
  • Works with major operating systems including Windows (Win98 → Win11 32/64-bit)
  • Supports multi-point RS485 networks with automatic direction control.

Ideal Applications

  • This converter is engineered for use in demanding industrial environments, including:
  • Industrial automation systems
  • PLC / sensor network interfaces
  • Data logging and monitoring equipment
  • Multi-node RS485 communication systems
  • Legacy system integrations
  • Whether integrating legacy serial equipment or extending communication channels, this converter ensures secure, reliable, and high-performance USB-to-RS485 connectivity.
