Pairing a Serial Bluetooth adapter using a USB Bluetooth dongle.

The easiest way of creating a serial RS232 wireless link between your computer and a serial device is by using a USB Bluetooth adapter dongle. The USB Bluetooth dongle is simply plugged into your computer\'s USB port which then enables your computer to communicate by Bluetooth. No drivers are needed for Windows 2000, XP Vista and 7, however we often recommend using a Bluetooth management software such as BlueSoleil or Toshiba BT Stack to easily manage your Bluetooth devices. Windows does have a built-in management software which you can use for managing the USB Bluetooth dongle, however the default Windows software sometimes lack features and reliability compared to other software specifically made to manage USB Serial Bluetooth adapter dongles and other Bluetooth devices.
If your computer have built-in Bluetooth then you do not need to use a USB Bluetooth adapter dongle, then you can simply use the built-in Bluetooth to connect with a Serial Bluetooth adapter. Another way of making a direct wireless cable replacement bu Bluetooth is by using two Serial Bluetooth adapter units, one connected to your computer and one connected to your serial device. To connect a Serial Bluetooth adapter to your computer you may need a USB to serial adapter since the Serial Bluetooth adapter is connected by a standard DB9 serial interface. When the two Serial Bluetooth adapter units are within communication range they will automatically pair and create a link. Depending on the type of Serial Bluetooth adapter you can configure it to pair without or with a pin code which makes it more secure. Most quality Serial Bluetooth adapter units allws you to configure the baud rate, pin code and other data settings.
When chosing a Serial Bluetooth adapter you need to consider which kind of environment you plan to use it in. Is it an industrial environment, office, commercial or laboratory environments? Depending on the environment you can chose from a standard Serial Bluetooth adapter which can be used for most typical applications and environments, but if you need to use the Serial Bluetooth adapter in a noisy industrial environment we recommend a rugged industrial grade Serial Bluetooth adapter which have better noise immunity, shielded casing and better signal strength.
