The latest open-source physical computing platform from Arduino that implements the open-source Programming Language based on the Wiring programming language and a development environment based on the Processing programming language, which is user friendly and at the same time very powerful. The Mega is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560. It can be used for developing stand-alone projects and can be connected to your computer to create a wide range of microprocessor controlled programs. It can for example connect to MaxMSP, Processing and Flash plus many more). The open-source IDE is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The Mega 2560 has 16 analog inputs, 54 digital I/O pins, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a USB connection, ICSP header, a power jack, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter to get started.
