This RS232 optical isolator is a strong industrial grade effective protection against all high voltage spikes, surges, static electricity, lightning strikes and ground loops. It effectively protects all 8 data lines against data loss and damage for up to 2500 Vrms and continuous 500VDC. Static electricity and other high voltage surges are protected for up to 15KV.

An external 9VDC power supply for poweing this RS232 optical isolator is included. The external power supply allows for effective protection while still performing at top speeds.

Standard DB9 connectors allows easy connection of any standard DB9 serial cable, and the TX/RX signal indication lights makes troubleshooting easy.

Two 4-feet M/F Serial cables and one 110VAC/9VDC wall power adapter is included in the package.

Many RS232 isolator units only protects 2 or 3 communication wires, this RS232 optical isolaotr however protects all 8 communication wires. But not only does this RS232 optical isolator protect all eight communication wires, it also isolates the power supply from the actual RS232 optical isolator interface. Many RS232 optical isolator units are port-powered but because this RS232 ioptical isolator has an external power supply it is completely isolated from the communication wires and your serial device. This is an important feature in some RS232 optical isolator applications which require the serial device to be totally isolated from the communication wires and power supply to avoid any kind on interference and over-voltages.
