This RS232 repeater, also called a line driver or RS232 extender, can extend your RS232 line up to 7.5 miles (12km) with 1500W / 600W/ms static protection to protect your data line against high voltage surges.
This RS232 repeater comunicates in full-duplex standard RS232, convertes the signal to RS422 and back again to R232 and is suitable for most applications, including industrial, commercial and any general office computer device. It is a bi-directional, (meaning it communicates in both directions), reliable and cost-effective adapter that easily lets you extend your RS232 line between two RS232 ports.
The unit is powered from the RS232 port so no external power supply, flow control, drivers or any other external interference is needed, simply plug-and-play. It is used in pairs, one unit at each end of your data line, so in order to establish a communiation link you will need to order two units.
Each RS232 repeater has a standard DB9 female connector on one RS232 side and a standard DB9 male connector on the onther side.
Optional: by using a DB9 to RJ45 adapter you can extend any serial RS232 signal by using a standard CAT5 cable.

The most effective and efficient way of extending a RS232 line is by using a RS232 repeater in the form of a RS232 to RS422 converter. The RS232 repeater line is then converted to a RS422 signal and back again to a RS232 repeater signal. This way you will keep all the data signals at the RS232 repeater end and effectively reduce noise in the RS232 repeater transmission line.
An RS232 repeater can easily be converted into a RS232 over CAT5 repeater simply by using a DB9 to RJ45 adapter to each RS232 repeater. This approach is ideal if you plan to use existing CAT5 cabling which is widely used in many office and industrial builidngs.
